12 Best Gift Ideas for the Moms in Your Life

Updated: Nov 9, 2019

This fall I turned 30, and as much as I wasn’t looking forward to a new decade, I did spend some time appreciating the wild ride life has been so far. There are lots of ways to reflect and do your own introspection, including some suggestions in a few upcoming posts. But there are also some great gifts that can help a mom you know get over the hump of saying goodbye to her twenties. Here’s my gift guide for moms everywhere who might not be quite ready for their thirties and the significance of being a whole decade older (and wiser, of course). Check it out!

This key will help you figure out if you can afford the gift. I’ve included some expensive items (don’t worry, nothing crazy like a car, although you can read my guide to the best mom cars here), because it’s good to shower the moms in your life with something luxurious occasionally, but practicality dictates that not everyone will have that in the budget. And while I do use some affiliate links when they work well, every one of the items on this list was chosen with care because they are things I have actually bought and loved, or things that I desperately wish someone would get for me.

$-$$ - Crochet Ruffle Dress

This adorable pink dress from Grey House Goods is the perfect gift for a mom who doesn’t get to dress up as often as she might like. It’s only $34, but this boutique store offers Sezzle, so you can also pay for it in 4 easy payments, which makes it $8.50 a month and more affordable. You’ll even get your shipping dollars back in the form of a $5 gift card if you’re local to the Assumption, IL area and can pick it up.

$ - Neutral Agate Bracelet from Dainty Blooms

This bracelet from Dainty Blooms goes with everything, but if you think your special lady would like another color, she hash plenty. The chic style is basic, so it won’t get caught on kiddos who are jumping into this special mom’s arms, and the stretchy bracelet means if they want to pull it off to inspect Mom’s new jewelry, there isn’t a clasp to break.

$ - Macarons

Traditions Cakes and Cookies makes macarons that are not only delicious, but flavors you only dream about. For the mom who loves to bake, try chocolate chip cookie dough, or for ice cream lovers, get her mint chocolate chip. These macarons run about $3 each, 4 for $10, or 10 for $20.

$$ - Baby Memory Book

This 9”x9” adorable baby memory book from Wild Dill. Moms don’t always get time to make everything cute or even remember the fun times when they’re in the midst of mothering. For $46, you give your favorite mom a way to record all her baby’s firsts, which then turn into priceless memories.

$ - Cute Gnomes

Little gnomies from Kusher Creations are the perfect decoration for any autumn or winter shelf, and this company even makes them custom if you want one for spring or summer. Make her melt with the cutest little guys you ever saw, for only $20.

$$$ - Anything Kate Middleton Wore

But for the purposes of this article, we found one of her more affordable choices. This J Crew sweater, pointed out by a Marie Clare article, retails around $89 but you get 40% off with code GOBIGGER. And it comes in several colors if the burgundy Kate chose isn’t your favorite person’s first choice.

$$ - Headache Remedies

For the mom who’s always rubbing her temples and needing pain relief at the end of a long day, try out a neck hammock and an acupuncture mat. Each by itself is fairly affordable, and as someone who suffers from complex migraines often, I can vouch that these have been very helpful. These links are for the exact ones I use, and I recommend them both.

$$$$$ - Chris or Helga (the robot vacuum)

A robot vacuum is a much-debated tool, but for a mom it’s essential. Although I highly recommend you take this with a grain of salt, because some moms (like my own) hate getting tools as gifts. For me, though, this was my favorite birthday gift ever for a long time. We have the iLife version, which is cheaper than top brands and works great on our hardwood and tile floors (and some rugs). P.S. Let her name it whatever she likes.

$$$ - Crossbody Bag

Get her a vegan leather bag like this crossbody from Lulus. The neutral color goes with anything, making it versatile for the mom on the go, and it’s worn across the shoulders, leaving hands free to help a toddler through the mall parking lot.

$ - Hard Cider

Anything from Tandem Ciders in Northern Michigan is worth its weight in gold. Smackintosh is our favorite, although they make new brews every year, and they’re all worth trying. These do have sulfites, so if your special lady needs a cider without those pesky extras, try Ash and Elm in Indianapolis, Starcut Ciders, or Stella Artois Cidre.

$ - A Weekender

This Shein stripey bag is only $8 but it’s perfect for a night away (or throwing kids’ stuff in if she doesn’t get to go somewhere alone). Technically you’re supposed to store your luggage in it, but the roomy interior means it can carry anything.

$$ - A Spiffy Blazer (With A Secret)

Fun.com’s Marvel-lined blazer is perfect for the professional woman and also stinkin’ awesome. What mom wouldn’t want the constant reminder to channel her inner Wonder Woman? It’s $39.99 and worth every penny, especially with the one-button style that flatters any shape. I just ordered this one, and I’m looking forward to wearing it to an upcoming wedding and my next corporate event in November (see, it’s versatile too!).

No matter what a mom does to minimize her birthday, making a big deal about her is important. Especially if she's hitting a milestone! These gifts are a great start to finding something she'll really love that will make her feel special.
