6 Best Wineries & Breweries Near Davis, CA

Here at A Wild Lass, we love to support local businesses. When traveling, we like to visit local wineries & breweries to sample the different available options. It is so much fun to have a date out with a spouse while enjoying the delicious drinks.

The best part: these dates require almost no prep work. Make a reservation, grab your purse, and go. Dressing up is optional, most of these welcome casual wear.



Old Sugar Mill was originally built as a beet sugar refinery in 1934. It now features fourteen wineries at one location. For a complete list of available wineries and their available times, visit their website. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it is required to make a reservation in advance with each specific winery you wish to visit. All wineries feature outdoor tables for wine enjoyment. Bonitata Boutique Wine has been serving customers for over a decade. The winery building at The Bernhard Museum was originally built in 1874 by Mr. Bernhard. He started with 35 acres of grapes and Tours of the house and the old production facility is available upon request. They are both connected via a tunnel underneath the house and cellar.


The tasting rooms are currently open. The full list of available wines can be found on their website. There is also a second location at the Tasting Room at Clarksburg’s Old Sugar Mill at 35265 Willow Ave. Clarksburg, CA 95612. Hours are Saturday through Sunday from 11am through 5pm.



Sudwerk Brew Co. was founded by two German descendants in 1989 in order to share the taste of German lagers with their community. Their taproom, The Dock, is a family- and dog-friendly hub of community and excitement. It features music, brew tastings, and delicious foods.


Visit The Dock at the Sudwerk Brew Co. at 2001 2nd Street Davis, CA 95618. They are open from 4pm through 8pm Thursday and Friday and 12pm through 8pm Saturday and Sunday.



The Green River Brewing & Taproom is owned by four friends who share a goal of providing a fun and unique experience to their community. The taproom features 25 on tap beers. It is a self-serve taproom where you can sample and refill your own beer choices. You pay by the ounce. The attached restaurant features a menu with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Voted the Best Winery of the year by Sacramento Magazine, Great Bear Vineyards offer customers a delicious experience by producing small lots of wine at a time. Owners the Meadows-Smith family are dedicated to growing the highest quality grapes by hand crafting each lot of wine.


Great Bear Vineyards have a passion for sustainability. Their vineyards are surrounded by lavender, wildflowers, and trees, making it a safe home for bees, rabbits, birds, and beneficial insects. Enjoy the view while savoring a glass of wine.

Located in downtown Davis, Nashoba Wines offer visitors a wine tasting bar and a bottling house. In keeping with their commitment to offer customers the freshest wines available, they have a revolving wine list that changes depending on what is locally available. They uniquely offer customers one dollar off their bottle of wine when they bring the empty bottle back to recycle.


Normally, no appointment is necessary to visit the wine tasting bar. However, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, only outside service is available, and reservations are encouraged.
